Julie Garcia - Contemporary Tap Julie Garcia completed her masters in Dance Education from New York University. As a Tap and Modern dancer, she is a frequent guest teacher at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and has taught at Boston University, Long Island University, Jacksonville University, and Florida State College at Jacksonville. Julie currently works as Germaine Salsberg's tap dance assistant, and dances for Germaine Salsberg's Les Femmes, Adam Metzger's S.L.U.R.P.,and Xander Weinman's Sophisticated Sounds. he has performed various dance styles at Symphony Space, White Wave, the Frederick Loewe Theatre, The Florida Theatre, and Conservatorio Statale Di Musica in Florence, Italy. She has danced in Tap City, the TapExtravaganza, the DUMBO Dance Festivaland Tradition in Tap. Julie served on the panel "Living the Dream" for the National Dance Education Organization's national conference. She was also a featured instructor and performer at the American College Dance Festival Association's Northeast conference. As an advocate of creative inquiry, Julie continues to research dance improvisation as it relates to the dancer and the creative process. Receiving national recognition for her choreography, teaching, research and performances, Julie's most rwarding experience has been her instruction to various age groups and cultures. |
